History Talk: "The Allure of Lustron"
Thurs, 1/25/18  • 7:00pm-8;00pm
Brandon Tidwell presents, "The Allure of Lustron: The Story Behind One of America's Most Iconic Prefab Homes." As GI's returned from WWII by the thousands, the US government was faced with an affordable housing shortage. Moline native and entrepreneur, Carl Standlund seemed to have just the solution with his prefabricated "Lustron" home, made completely of steel. The need was great, skilled workers were plentiful, and there seemed to be surplus of needed supplies for the job, what could possibly go wrong?
